MUSPE 290: Beginning Conducting

This will serve as a "living syllabus" for MUSPE290.  There will be additions and corrections along the way, so it is best to check this website from time to time for updates, etc.  If I need to get a message out to you, it will be posted on this page.  I recommend checking it daily.

9/30/08
Class will be in Bohuslav's office.  Video tape review session.  Bring your tape to his office at the normal meeting time.  You may want to take notes on this review session so you don't have to watch the tape again.

We will meet in the normal room today.  We will not be meeting in Bohuslav's office.

8/26/2008 - First class.

Introductions, etc. The overall course syllabus was handed out. If you have any queestions, see me ASAP. A note on office hours: I will make myself available to assist you in any way I can; however, I cannot help you if I don't know you need help. In other words: ASK me questions if you need assistance!

Assignment due at next class: Bring your instruments!!!

8/28/2008 -  First conucting rounds and critique

9/2/2008 -  2nd conducting rounds.  Make sure to remember to bring your mini DV tape.  We will be looking at Austrian Hymn.  Be ready to conduct this piece; also, look at the next piece in the text.  Remember:  your task is to try to figure it out on your own - if you have specific questions, ask!  

9/4/2008 -more conducting today.  We will meet in the normal room.  Next class (Tuesday Sept. 9) will be in Bohuslav's office for a tape review session.  BRING YOUR TAPE TODAY!!!
